Restore from a backup

Oh no! Griefed base? Bad plugin update? Server crash wiped your progress? Don't panic! Restoring from a backup in our gaming panel gets you back to a safe point in minutes. It's like hitting "undo" on your Minecraft world, Rust wipe, or ARK tames.

This guide is for regular players/admins — super simple, no file managers needed.

Pro tip: Always have backups by automating your backups!

 

Why restore from a backup

  • Recover lost world/builds: Roll back greifing or corruption.
  • Fix update disasters: Revert after a modpack breaks everything.
  • Test safely: Experiment, then restore if it goes wrong.
  • Quick & painless: Overwrites current files - you're good as new.

Warning: This replaces EVERYTHING on your server. Current progress = gone. Make a quick manual backup first if you havent recently!

 

Step 1: Log in to your panel

  1. Go to our game panel (https://panel.lunarracks.com)
    1. Log in with your email and password.
    2. Click on your server from the list.
  2. or log in to My Rack (https://my.lunarracks.com)
    1. Go to your server.
    2. Click the Server Overview.
    3. Click on GO TO CONTROL PANEL.

Step 2: Stop the server!!

  1. In the server dashboard, go to the Console tab.
  2. Click the red Stop button
  3. Wait for the server to full stop (status "Offline")

Why? Restoring while running can corrupt files. Safety first!

 

Step 3: Go to the "Backups" tab

  1. Top navigation -> Click Backups
  2. You'll see a list: Names, sizes, dates with the newest at the top.

No backups? Head to the backup guide ASAP!

 

Step 4: Pick & restore your backup

  1. Find the backup you want to restore to (e.g. "Weekly - Nov 10")
  2. Click the three dots (...) next to it.
  3. Select "Restore"
  4. Options popup:
    • Delete all files before restoring backup. -> Select Yes for full replacement (recommended)
  5. Click Restore.

 

Step 5: Wait!

  • Progress bar appears - don't touch anything!
  • Time: 2-20 minutes depending on server
  • Done? Back to Console tab -> Click Start
  • Watch console for "Done!" or player join messages

Success! Your server it back in time. Invite your friends!

 

What if something goes wrong?

Issue Fix
"No space left" Delete old backups (three dots -> Delete)
Restore fails Stop server again, try a smaller/older backup. Contact us!
Still broken after? Download backup first (three dots -> Download, upload via Files tab
Locked backup? Three dots -> Unlock

 

Bonus: Lock important backups

  • After restoring, three dots on a good backup -> Lock (this prevents auto or accidental deletion)
