If you’ve already mastered manual backups (check creating backups if not), it’s time to level up. Automatic backups in our game panel means your Minecraft world, Rust base, or ARK dinos are saved every day (or whenever) without you doing a thing. No more forgetting — just set it and forget it!
This guide is for everyday users like you. No tech jargon, just simple steps. Let’s automate those backups in about 10 minutes.
Why automated backups are a game-changer
- Hands-free protection: Backups run while you sleep or play - no manual effort or remembering required.
- Safety net: Catch issues early, like a bad update or player mishaps.
- Peace of mind: Restore from yesterdays backup if today goes wrong.
- Space saver: Schedule deletion of older backups to keep things flowing.
This of this as your server's autopilot for survival.

- Cron expression: Don’t panic! Use the cheap sheet or type a simple one.
- For daily at 3 AM: 0 3 * * * (hour 3, minute 0, every day).
- For every Monday at 4 AM: 0 4 * * MON.
- Or use the panel’s helper: Select “Every Day” and pick a time.

Step 4: Add a Backup Task to the schedule
- Your new schedule will appear — click New Task (or the plus icon).
- In the “Action” dropdown, select Create a backup.
- Optional tweaks:
- Set a time offset if you want a delay (e.g., 5 minutes after schedule starts).
- In “Payload”, add ignored files/folders to skip junk (like in manual backups):
This keeps backups small and fast.
cache logs *.log plugins/WorldEdit/schematics
- Click Create Task.
Pro Tip: Combine with Auto-Cleanup by adding a second task to delete backups older than X.
Step 5: Test and Activate
- Back in the Schedules list, your backup task is now attached.
- To test: Click on the schedule and select Run Now.
- Watch the console or backups tab — a new backup should appear soon.
- If all is good, it’ll run automatically from now on!
Warning: Backups use disk space. Schedule a “Delete oldest backup” task if needed (add another task with “Delete backup” action).
Bonus: Advanced Scheduling Ideas
- Multiple tasks: Add a "Power off" task before backup and "Power on" after for super-safe saves.
- Weekly full backups: Create a separate schedule for Sundays
- Chain them: For big servers, add a "Send message" task first: Warn your players with a custom command.
