Create backups

If you’re running a Minecraft, Rust, ARK, or any other game server with us at Lunar Racks, you need backups. One wrong plugin, a griefing player, or a simple crash can wipe hours (days or weeks!) of progress. This guide is written for regular users no coding, no scary commands. Just click, type, and relax knowing your world is safe.

Why Backups Matter

  • Accidentally deleted your base? Restore in 2 clicks
  • Server crashed after an update? Roll back instantly
  • Want to test a new modpack? Backup and experiment freely!

Make your first backup in under 5 minutes.

Step 1: Log In to Your Panel

  1. Go to our game panel (https://panel.lunarracks.com)
    1. Log in with your email and password.
    2. Click on your server from the list.
  2. or log in to My Rack (https://my.lunarracks.com)
    1. Go to your server.
    2. Click the Server Overview.
    3. Click on GO TO CONTROL PANEL.

Tip: Bookmark our panel link so you can jump in fast!

Step 2: Go to the "Backups" tab

Once you are inside your server dashboard:

  1. Look at the top navigation bar
  2. Click Backups

You'll see a list of any old backups or "No backups yet" if this is your first time.

Step 3: Create Your Backup

  1. Click the Create Backup button
  2. A prompt box will pop up. Give your backup a clear name like:
    • Before Big Update - Nov 10
    • Daily Backup - 12pm
    • My Epic Base
Pro Tip: Good names makes it easy to find later!
  3. Optional: Tell the backup to skip junk files! This saves space and restore time by skipping these temporary files.
    • In the "Ignored Files & Folders" box, paste this for Minecraft servers.
    • cache
      logs
      *.log
      plugins/WorldEdit/schematics
  4. Click Start Backup

Backup in progress!

  • Your backup has now kicked off
  • You'll see a progress bar
  • It might take 1-15 minutes depending on your server.
  • You can close this tab - it will continue to run in the background!

Warning: Don't stop your server mid-backup unless you have to. For the safest backup, stop the server first (red button -> Stop), then backup, then restart.

Step 4: Check your backup

Go back to the Backups tab:

  • Your new backup will appear at the top.
  • See the size, date, and name.
  • Click the three dots (..) to:
    • Download (save it to your PC)
    • Restore (bring the server back to this version)
    • Delete (free up some space)

Tip: Setup automatic backups: Schedule backups - Lunar Racks LLC
