What to Do After Ordering Your VPS (Setup Guide)

Just ordered a VPS with us? Hell yeah – welcome to the big leagues! Whether you're setting up a game panel, website, bot host, or just want full root freedom, the next steps are super quick (usually under 10 minutes). Our VPSs run on our Nebula Core panel, and everything is instant – no waiting hours for provisioning.

This guide walks you through exactly what to do the moment your order is complete. Let's get you online and rooted.

Step 1: Check Your Email (Instant Delivery)

  1. You'll get a few emails right away:
    • Order Confirmation
    • Customer Invoice
    • Invoice Payment Confirmation
    • Your Lunar Racks VPS is LIVE - Access Details Inside! → This has your VPS details + Nebula Core login link
  2. Click the My Rack link (or go directly to https://my.lunarracks.com)
  3. Log in with the email/password from the welcome email (or your existing account if you're a returning legend)

Tip: Bookmark the client area – this is your home base for everything.

Step 2: Find Your VPS & Start Setup

  1. In My Rack → ServicesMy Services
  2. Click your new VPS (it'll say "Active")
  3. Click Manage or the big OPEN CONTROL PANEL button
  4. You'll now be in the Nebula Core control panel for that VPS – this is where the magic happens.

Step 3: Deploy / Install Your OS (One-Click)

Most plans come with your chosen OS pre-selected, but if it's not deployed yet:

  1. Click Deploy or Install OS
  2. Choose your template:
    1. Ubuntu 22.04/24.04 LTS (most popular)
    2. Debian 12
    3. AlmaLinux 9 / Rocky 9
    4. Windows Server 2022/2019 (license included on Windows plans)
    5. Or any other template we offer
  3. Click Deploy → Wait 2-8 minutes (progress bar shows real-time)

Once complete, the VPS status will turn Running and you'll see your IPv4 + IPv6 addresses.

Step 4: Access the Console & Finish Initial Setup

  1. In VirtFusion panel → Click Console (noVNC – opens in browser)
  2. For Linux:
    • Login as root with the password shown in the email: Your Server is Ready!
    • Immediately change it: passwd → enter new strong password
    • Update system:
      • apt update && apt upgrade -y (Ubuntu/Debian)
      • dnf update -y (Alma/Rocky)

Step 5: Connect via SSH / RDP (Your New Home)

Linux (SSH):

ssh root@YOUR_VPS_IP

(Use PuTTY on Windows, Terminal on Mac/Linux)

Windows (RDP):

  • Open Remote Desktop Connection
  • Enter your VPS IP
  • Username: Administrator
  • Password: The one you set in console

You're now fully in control.

Recommended First 10 Minutes on a Fresh VPS

Do these every time for security + performance:

1.Update everything

apt update && apt upgrade -y # Ubuntu/Debian

dnf update -y # AlmaLinux/Rocky

2. Create a non-root user (best practice)

adduser yourusername

usermod -aG wheel yourusername # CentOS/Alma/Rocky

usermod -aG sudo yourusername # Ubuntu/Debian

3. Set up SSH key auth (disable password login later)

# Upload your public key to /home/yourusername/.ssh/authorized_keys

4. Install a firewall

ufw allow OpenSSH && ufw enable # Ubuntu

firewall-cmd --permanent --add-service=ssh && firewall-cmd --reload # Alma/Rocky

Troubleshooting Quick Fixes

Issue Fix
VPS says "Suspended" or "Pending" Payment processing - usually clears in <5 mins. Refresh or contact billing.
Console blank/black Wait 30 seconds, refresh the page, or try Chrome/Edge (Firefox can be glitchy sometimes)
Can't SSH - "Connection refused" VPS still booting (wait 2 mins. after deploying) or firewall is blocking the connection. Check the console first.
Forgot root password Nebula Core -> Options -> Password -> Reset password (instant)
No IPv6 We provide blocks - enable it in OS or ask us to add extra subnets.

Bonus: Next-Level Moves

  • Want Pterodactyl game panel? One-click install available in some plans or order as add-on.
  • Need extra IPs? Instant add in client area.
  • Backups? Enable daily snapshots in Nebula Core (highly recommend).

Quick Recap (Cheat Sheet)

  1. Check email → Log into My Rack
  2. Services → Manage VPS → Launch Nebula Core panel
  3. Deploy OS (if needed)
  4. Open Console → Set password → Update
  5. SSH/RDP in → Secure it → Profit

You're live. Go build something ridiculous.
